The Desert Sessions Volumes 1 throught 10 - these are hard to
find albums that are a sort of sideproject for Queens of the Stone Age
frontman Josh Homme and friends (including PJ Harvey, Chris Goss, Dean Ween,
Dave Grohl, Twiggy Ramirez, Alain Johannes, Josh Freese, Dave Catching, Troy
Van Leeuwen, and many more). They include all kinds of artists though and
are not simply try-out sessions for potential QOTSA material (although some
songs do appear on later QOTSA albums. Some of the best, freshest, and most
original music I've heard in years - all over the musical landscape - blues,
folk, country, hard rock, punk, alternative, the list goes on. Not for the
faint of ear, but HIGHLY recommended if you can get your hands on them
(amazon has a couple of them new).
