Stone
in the Shadows of Time
By Michelle Drobik
I
will hide in the shadows
of the green leaves
and Spanish moss
Dark,
damp air hits my skin
the sun cannot reach me
in this corner I'm hiding
in.
Lily pads and water flowers
kindly
float by my side,
but they never take away
the beauty I hold inside.
On
shore wandering ladies rest their feet
and pat brows under straw hats,
beholding
secrets
the steamy darkness brings
With
the curve of my shoulder
and the flip of my tail fin,
I am theirs forever
in
the shadows of time.
