Living Our Dream

As our summer travel to the Pacific Northwest comes to a close, Dave and I are working our way back to Picacho, Arizona, a 55 + age RV resort which is located half way between Phoenix and Tucson and should arrive ‘home‘ within two weeks.  To summarize this summer’s trip:  drove 8,100 miles in 6 months through Arizona, Nevada, Idaho, Washington, Oregon, northern California, back into Nevada and down to Picacho, Arizona; stayed at 20 different RV parks; visited 9 national parks and countless historic  monuments and sites; camped at elevations of 26 to 6,100 feet in elevation; walked in snow on Mt. Rainier, strolled on a beach of the Pacific Ocean, and roasted in Death Valley; all done with tremendous enthusiasm and awe for this great country.

Living in an RV in the winter with the snow and cold is not fun so we have found a winter home where we sit tight for 6 months in relatively warm sunny weather.  We had tried winters in Florida and Texas but found Picacho is most appealing for us.  An added benefit is that we will be within an hour’s drive of our 3 granddaughters, which means lots of fun times for grandma and grandpa during the next 6 months.

By January we will begin thinking about our next adventure, deciding our initial route out of Arizona, beginning to study things to do and see along our way, and dreaming of being on the road again.  Winter is also the time we get the RV in to dealer for service to fix or repair those things that have jiggled loose or broken while being bounced down the road at 65 miles an hour.   We love this semi-nomadic life and look forward to meeting new friends along the way.  Life is good.
