Cast
Stationed upon my deck, I survey the crowded sea before me.
Pods and schools
clustered,
poised
to receive
the
promised
feast.
A clamor ensues. Pushing, shifting, pressing,
closer,
jostling
for
the
best
spot.
I with my line-- arm overhead, elbow crooked--
poised and ready, baiting and
baited,
prepared and
well-rehearsed.
Taking
my appointed
spot,
bathed in the
signaling light,
I survey one
last
time.
I draw back
and
cast.
