The Franklin Park Conservatory … rides again.

I drop by Columbus’s Conservatory quite often. It’s one of the finest gems in this city and an afternoon there is nirvana.
Running through September 27th is a wonderful photographic exhibit by Samuel Jaffe. Using some sort of “aluminum photography” process that is beyond my comprehension, Mr. Jaffe brings the colorful world of caterpillars, pupae, and moths to life in the Cardinal Health Gallery. My photos certainly do not do the exhibit justice.
Of course the flora and fauna appears almost 4 dimensional with so many beautiful butterflies fluttering about. Peppered into the gardens are the wood sculptures of David Rogers. Also displayed until September 27th, Mr. Rogers larger than life “Big Bugs” create an atmosphere of Dionysian delight!
All this … and the visitor is still surprised to happen upon something as extraordinary as a 170 year old bonsai tree! Take the time for a short “staycation” and escape for an afternoon to the fantasyland known as The Franklin Park Conservatory!!
