What Remains
My memories are vapor
Your reassuring solidness is gone
Your once cherished body lost to me
Yet grief is tangible as stone
Another Winter day
A story you told me once,
Both of us snug together on a snowy day,
Of a visit to your grandma’s house
I imagine you there now with your little sisters
Safe and warm on a blanket
Watching TV and drinking a coke
When I was with you, it was always 1968, and we ruled the world. |
