Writer's Block

I tried to write a horror movie
but when I turned on the news
the images of war and death
made my monsters look tame

I started a science fiction saga
but my high definition LED TV
documented spacecraft, clones and robots
more advanced than those I'd fancied

I thought I'd try my hand at satire
but then they showed some politicians
and all their promises and slogans
seemed far too absurd for me to top

So then I started on this poem
having heard hours of blather
I knew at least that, however flawed
my prose could only be better

Passengers get on
the coastal bus, then get off
mirroring the waves

Lose a few pounds and
replace your wardrobe, diets
are quite a racket

-----------------------------

She was a good car
high maintenance, but at least
her air bags deployed
