Laura’s
Whatever gets you through… the Holidays!
Homemade Irish Cream Liqueur
2
cups Irish Whiskey
2 cups half and half
2 cans condensed milk
¼ cup instant coffee granules
2 T. chocolate syrup
1 teaspoon vanilla
Whisk all ingredients
together until everything is blended and coffee granules dissolve,
then refrigerate in a covered container. I use a big glass jar,
but my neighbor uses an empty gallon milk jug to make it easier
to mix it – just shake the jug, as it kind of settles
some over time. The original recipe says to let the flavors
mellow for 3 weeks in the fridge before you consume it, but
I can tell you from experience that that step is not essential!
I like it in coffee, but it’s also great straight up.
This makes a pretty big batch, so you can put some in nice bottles
to give as gifts… or you can drink it all yourself. Although
it has half and half in it, it keeps in the fridge a really
long time. The Whiskey must take care of that! Also, you don’t
need to purchase the most expensive whiskey, but it does have
to be the Irish Whiskey. Enjoy!
